What is the status of the July 2020 Vent Haven Convention amid the Covid-19 pandemic?
I live in Kentucky and our overly protective great Governor has us on a stay-safe-at-home recommendation. I currently do not know when he will say it’s safe to go out and open up the state for business and conventions. He has issued an Governor’s Order for people coming in from out of state to subject themselves to a two-week quarantine.
Today’s news featured a scientist from Italy who indicated that recent studies indicated that the Covid-19 virus can float around in the air on particulate matter over greater distance in areas with medium to high air pollution. In other words, the 6-foot distance may not be a safe distance to maintain between people. Plus according to the news, the two-week quarantine period as previously recommended by the infectious disease scientists appears not to be long enough.
I can only imagine a Ventriloquist Convention where the ventriloquists all have to wear face masks (fortunately, the wooden dummies are immune from the Covid-19 virus even though they are susceptible to termite damage). Needless to say, what good is a ventriloquist convention if we can’t see if the ventriloquist’s lips move behind the face mask during the presentations and performances.
I am also concerned about surfaces upon which the Covid-19 virus may attach itself and subsequently infect a convention attendee coming in contact with that surface. This includes everything that might be for sale in the vendors rooms and the hotel public areas.
Like everybody, I wish to be safe and would like to know what plans are in place to help everybody remain safe while attending the convention.
I await your response.
Stay healthy.
